The drive to Las Ventanas del Mar takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes. From the Liberia airport, you just follow the signs to Santa Cruz, on to Nicoya, then Samara, and finally to Carrillo. Once you are on the Carrillo Beach road, about halfway down the beach you will see a parking lot on the right, turn left up the mountain to Las Ventanas del Mar.

Detailed Directions from Liberia Airport to Las Ventanas del Mar:

(Note: When driving in Costa Rica, be aware that there are a lot of one-way bridges. “CEDA” means that you are to yield.)

Turn right out of the airport entrance ---- Set odometer to 0.

Pass the Panaderia Alemania on the left. This is a German Bakery where some people like to stop to buy bread and/or a snack and drink before getting on the road. Approx. 4.1K

Pass through the town of Santa Cruz. Approx. 44.3K

To enter the town of Nicoya, bear to the right at the fork. Immediately before this intersection, there is a MAXI-BODEGA on the left-hand side of the road. This is an excellent place to stop for groceries and supplies. Approx. 64.7K

After passing approximately halfway through the town of Nicoya, you will come to an area where the road ahead is one way. You will be prompted to turn right and will then need to take your first immediate left. Follow that road all the way through Nicoya until you come to a T – intersection. You will take a left and then your next right. You are now leaving Nicoya.

Turn right at the dead end in Caimital. There will be a small store directly in front of you at the stop sign at the dead end. Approx. 76K

As you are entering Samara, turn at the first left. There is a sign pointing to Samara’s Budget office and to Playa Carrillo. If you dead end into the beach, you have gone too far. Approx. 101.7K

Drive approx. 4 kilometers towards Carrillo. You will see Playa Carrillo on your right, lined with palm trees. Halfway down the beach road, take a left on the dirt road across from the beach parking area

(4 wheel drive recommended). Approx. 106.3K

Continue up the mountain to Las Ventanas del Mar. In about 2 kilometers the road forks and you stay to the left.

In a few hundred yards you will see the front gate. Please give the guard your name. He will have a packet of information for you with a key. Included in the packet is a letter and map of the property. Please use the map to continue to your particular unit.

Breathtaking views

We finally got to visit Costa Rica. Our friend connected us with Las Ventanas Del Mar. That was a game-changer. As much as we loved the country and the people and the activities, our Ridge Condo was the highlight each morning when we awakened and each evening when we returned. The view from the unit was simply spectacular. The condo itself was rather luxurious. We spent quite a bit of time in the pool or just sitting on our back deck drinking coffee and enjoying the sounds of the jungle and the waves crashing on the shore down below. The resident manager, Albert, continually helped us plan our days and connected us with excellent companies for our activities. He was a great resource. When we go back to Costa Rica, we will stay here. There is no doubt about that.

My wife, Debbie, and I decided to tee up a getaway vacation to Costa Rica with 4 other couples who live here on Orcas Island, WA. Our great friends Mike and Rachel Leach from Ft. Lauderdale helped put the trip together with Albert for a total of 6 couples in two three bedroom units. This worked out great! The units were spacious, well laid out, and well furnished. We enjoyed the wild life, the infinity pool, nearby restaurants, wonderful offshore fishing with Albert yielding marlin (released), and mahi mahi for dinner. Debbie and some of our party enjoyed massage sessions with Marisol who was delightful. All the feedback we have received from our fellow travelers has been very positive. We would highly recommend Las Ventanas to anyone looking for an adventurous but first class get away!

Amazing Vacation at Las Ventanas!

Our family loved our stay at Villa 1 of Las Ventanas! The villa itself was luxurious, and beautifully decorated, and Las Ventanas itself is beautifully landscaped and immaculately maintained. The beds and bedrooms of the villa were super comfortable, the baths modern and large, and the kitchen was well-stocked and opened to a spacious great room with beautiful views of the garden areas. Although we had originally picked Las Ventanas because of its close proximity to amazing Carrillo Beach, in truth, we loved Las Ventanas so much we stayed most of our time there! We enjoyed playing tennis in the mornings and evenings, and the huge community pool is simply out-of-this world -- pictures and words cannot do it justice. There are also several cabanas with hammacks in the open garden area next to the pool with amazing views to the local beaches and mountains that made for idyllic afternoon retreats. The villa was equipped with lots of towels, pool floats, tennis rackets and balls, so we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. There is also a beautiful lake at Las Ventanas, with paddle boards for guests, an open air gym, and an amazing barbecue area. Albert, the concierge, was extremely helpful and gracious. We were delayed in our arrival (flat tire on our way from Liberia), so we arrived very late to the villa and Albert had a huge basket of fruit and other tasty treats waiting for us since we didn't have time to stop at the local store. What a lifesaver! He also arranged for a chef to make a traditional Costa Rican dinner for us one night that was not only amazingly delicious, but there was so much food we had plenty left-over for a second entire dinner the following night. Albert was always available at a moment's notice to make sure we had everything we needed for a fabulous vacation, and his restaurant recommendations were spot-on -- some of the best dining we've had in Costa Rica. Our family looks forward to returning someday to Las Ventanas -- it's a magical place!

Wow, Exceeded all Expectations.

My wife and I totally enjoyed Las Ventanas, Carrillo Beach. The beautiful accommodations, and site were more than we expected. Our group of 6 couples in two condos worked out perfectly. The place is quite and relaxing. The infinite pool was a great place to swim and hang out for sunsets and socializing. We enjoyed watching the wildlife, Howler monkeys and Coatis, from our deck in the mornings and total lack of mosqitos. Fishing with Albert, massages with Marisol and 4 wheeling were all highlights of our trip. We look forward to returning in the future. Alberts recomendations on local resturants was perfect.

Hi Mark, Thank you for the wonderful review of Las Ventanas del Mar. We really appreciate it and look forward to seeing you again. Sincerely, Albert

Beautiful views

We had a wonderful stay at Las Ventanas. The views and the pool are especially incredible, and we always had the pool and hammock area all to ourselves. Albert helped arrange outstanding massages for our whole group, as well as a nice dinner prepared by a local chef. Playa Carrillo is absolutely beautiful and uncrowded, and we enjoyed spending time in Samara and Nosara as well. Hope to be back some day!

Highly Recommended!!

We had a wonderful stay at Las Ventanas! The room was amazing and well equipped. The view from the balcony was beautiful looking out over the shoreline. I have travelled around the globe and the pool and the evening sunsets were the best. Looking forward to returning to this lovely location that had meticulous grounds and a very polite staff! Oh and don’t forget about the fishing with Albert! The boat and crew were exceptional and I look forward to catching another Marlin off this beautiful Costa Rican coastline. Cheers! Jeff J

A Gem in Costa Rica

This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we had a wonderful time at Las Ventanas. The location is high on a cliff with amazing, peaceful views. You should seriously consider a 4WD drive vehicle, especially in the rainy season. We spent a lot of time in the pool just taking in the beautiful scenery and saw Howler monkeys and Coatis nearly every day! Albert was incredibly helpful with advice about restaurants and things to do. The beach at the base of the cliff is a little quieter than the one in Samara and we had a great time on both. The shops and restaurants in Samara always made us feel welcome. If you are looking for excursions, I highly recommend the 5-6 hour ATV tour. The condo itself is both luxury and and spacious with great outdoor living space. We plan to be back soon. I highly recommend Las Ventanas.

Amazing Vacation

My husband and I spent a week at Las Ventanas Del Mar with 2 other couples in February. The condo was beautiful, clean and furnished with everything we needed. The views from the balcony were breathtaking. We spent every night admiring the sunset from the infinity pool. Playa Carillo and Playa Samara were minutes away and fun to walk around or lay in our hammocks. Costa Rica is a beautiful country and I can’t wait to go back!

It is simply the most stunning place we have even been!

On behalf of the Cones, Glenn, Don, and Susan this is a sincere thank you, Lorena, and the rest of the staff for making our trip to Costa Rica so very enjoyable. The Condo unit was perfect for three couples and the view was so breathtaking one could never grow bored of just sitting on the porch! It was also very nicely furnished and equipped. We did cook some of our fresh fish on the outdoor grill one evening and found everything we needed to do that. The Carillo beach was immaculate and beautiful as always and the local restaurants were outstanding – as always. Thank you for your assistance with the new restaurant recommendations and the fishing charters. Both captains worked very hard to make our time on the water both pleasant and exciting. The highlight was watching our rookie fisherwoman conquer a Blue Marlin in the 200 + pound range. As with our previous trips to Las Ventanas, the late afternoon ritual of taking our favorite adult beverages to the incredible pool with 200 feet of infinity line looking out over the sunsetting on the Pacific from 1000 feet above was not to be missed. It is simply the most stunning place we have even been! See you next year!
